Kanaka Reflections

He mau Hawaiʻi puehu liʻiliʻi kākou.
We are the Hawaiian Diaspora.

Hawaiians who live off-island are often forgotten, misunderstood, or thought to be less than our on-island counter parts.

The goal of Kanaka Reflections is to give us a voice.

Although our existence is a poignant reminder of the great colonial injustices our people have faced, and despite the kaumaha (grief) caused every time another family member moves away, we need you to hear our voices because our voices are just as much a part of Hawaii’s song as every voice that sings from the shores.
